George Best
Dave writes:
"if you UTube "George Best" as I do every evening...and you may have already, you'll come across a clip about 4mins 33" long & set (alas..but not disasterously to Duran Duran's "Ordinary Day')..second link down, but now probably #1 due to moi. anyway, aren't you: (a) the bloke in the centre middle when George is doing the ol' "champagne cascade" and/or (b) the bloke sat in one of those blue "differently-abled" 3-wheelers that THEY used to permit to park around the sidelines...I think you're munching a ham sandwich?! it's prety near the end of the clip at around, say, 3 mins 49"

We don't need nuclear power
Two German scientists, Dr Gerhard Knies and Dr Franz Trieb, calculate that covering just 0.5% of the world's hot deserts with a technology called concentrated solar power (CSP) would provide the world's entire electricity needs, with the technology also providing desalinated water to desert regions as a valuable byproduct, as well as air conditioning for nearby cities.

Maisie's 11th birthday weekend
We had a great time. Kate, Mum, Dad, Rosie, Maisie and I went to Cardiff Bay on Saturday afternoon and then for a curry in the evening (Matt joined us). Then up to Pam's for a horse ride on Sunday...despite Rosie's flat tyre, it was amazing!

And the winner is...
Went to the PR Week Awards ceremony last night as a guest of ITV...and our project won (Best Internal Communications Campaign). Our work on re-designing ITV's intranet was central to the entry, so I was lavished with praise and thanks by Penny and Dorito.

Eagleton on "The God Delusion"
Richard Dawkin's latest book gets a slamming from Terry Eagleton in the London Review of Books.
I particularly liked this from him: "Jesus hung out with whores and social outcasts, was remarkably casual about sex, disapproved of the family (the suburban Dawkins is a trifle queasy about this), urged us to be laid-back about property and possessions, warned his followers that they too would die violently, and insisted that the truth kills and divides as well as liberates. He also cursed self-righteous prigs and deeply alarmed the ruling class."
